GURNEE, Ill. (November 10, 2025) — Winter weather turned deadly in the north suburbs Sunday night after icy roads caused a vehicle to lose control and collide head-on with another car, according to Gurnee police.
The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on Grand Avenue over Interstate 94. Investigators said a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound when the driver attempted to change lanes and struck a patch of ice. The vehicle then crossed the center median and entered eastbound traffic, colliding head-on with a 2007 Ford Focus.
