Kogut & Wilson is thrilled to announce Cailee J. Alderman’s recognition in Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s fifth annual Women in Law List. This list recognizes and honors influential women in law who work to mentor and promote other women in the field, act as shining examples of leadership and achieve success in the legal community.

As a partner, Cailee has been instrumental in expanding the firm’s practices, especially in adoption, guardianship and special immigrant juvenile status cases. Her efforts have not only enhanced the firm’s capabilities, but her extensive knowledge and compassionate advocacy have also transformed how the entire team approaches these sensitive cases.

Beyond her legal practice, Cailee has built strong professional networks, notably with the Exclusive Professional Women’s Networking Group (EPWNG), and she continues to make an impact through her leadership roles. She has served as vice-chair and chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s (CBA) Adoption Law Committee and now co-chairs the Legislation subcommittee.

Additionally, Cailee frequently shares her experience through speaking engagements at DePaul University College of Law, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and child welfare organizations. Since 2015, she has contributed to the DCFS Statewide Adoption and Guardianship Attorney panel and has been a valuable resource for foster parents. Her work on the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) Adoption Law Handbooks in 2020 and 2024 has cemented her role as a thought leader in adoption law.

Cailee represents clients in all areas of family and matrimonial law, focusing on divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, guardianship and special immigrant juvenile status. As an accomplished family law attorney, Cailee is well-versed in the intricacies of child welfare and provides valuable insights into the available options for children leaving protective services in Illinois.
