The collision occurred in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in West Woodlawn. According to officers with the Chicago Police Department, the detective’s car collided with a red Kia. Chicago, IL (April 16, 2024) – Two individuals were killed, and one was injured in a collision that occurred on I-57 on Tuesday morning.

Traffic was backed up and extended down to the 147th Street stretch of highway. The Illinois State Police diverted traffic to 159th and closed all northbound lanes. It is unknown what caused the collision, but paramedics at least rushed one person to a local hospital.
