July 17th, 2025 (Chicago, IL) – Walmart has recalled approximately 850,000 Ozark Trail stainless steel water bottles due to a dangerous lid defect that may cause serious injuries, including permanent vision loss. The faulty lids can forcibly eject when consumers attempt to open the bottles after carbonated beverages, food, or certain perishable liquids are stored inside them. This can lead to serious impact or laceration injuries. 

To date, at least three people have been injured, including two individuals who permanently lost vision after being struck in the eye by an ejecting lid.

July 16th, 2025 (Chicago, IL) – Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. has issued a recall of approximately 143,416 pounds of ready-to-eat meat & poultry products due to misbranding. The various bologna products contain chicken, pork, and beef products not listed in the product labels.

This error is particularly dangerous for individuals who have certain dietary restrictions, whether said restrictions are due to religious/cultural beliefs or health reasons. Ankin Law attorney, Phil Risley recently helped an injured Amazon worker receive a positive outcome from an Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission arbitrator. The injured 70 year-old man was employed as a picker by Amazon at its Matteson, Illinois facility when the accident occurred.
