A 32-year-old woman lost her life following a hit-and-run crash in the South Chicago neighborhood Tuesday night, according to the Chicago Police Department. Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 10:01 p.m. in the 2100 block of East 83rd Street. Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a person struck by a vehicle.

When police arrived, they found the woman lying in the street and unresponsive. Emergency responders transported her to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment. Despite medical efforts, the woman later died from her injuries at the hospital.

Officials said the driver involved in the crash fled the scene, and no immediate information about the vehicle was released. The Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly hit-and-run.
