A semi-truck hauling approximately 20 tons of beer was involved in a crash with a passenger vehicle Monday afternoon on Interstate 80/94 near Lansing, according to Illinois State Police.

The collision occurred shortly after 3:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes just west of Torrence Avenue. Officials said the truck sustained significant damage to its trailer, which came to rest on the roadway after its wheels were crushed beneath it.

The semi was transporting about 40,000 pounds of beer, though it was not immediately clear whether any of the cargo spilled onto the expressway.

One person was reported injured in the crash, but authorities have not yet provided details on their condition. By 5 p.m., all lanes had reopened, though delays persisted as crews worked to clear the damaged truck and debris.
