The Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism is pleased to announce that the Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Cook County Circuit Court Associate Judge Joseph D. Panarese to serve as a Commissioner on the Commission on Professionalism.
“I am happy to welcome Judge Panarese to serve as a Commissioner with the Commission on Professionalism,” said John Kim, Chair of the Commission on Professionalism. “His judicial career and experience as an attorney in the public and private sectors will provide valuable insight as the Commission works to advance legal excellence in lawyers and judges across the state.”

Judge Panarese was appointed as a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County in 2006 and became an associate judge in 2007. In his present assignment, he hears civil and criminal juries throughout Cook County.
Judge Panarese began his legal career at Panarese & Panarese Law Firm in Chicago and then became an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he worked in the felony trial division. Judge Panarese is a regular speaker and volunteer with various legal, civil, educational, and animal rescue groups.
He earned a J.D. from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and a B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
“I am honored to be appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Commission on Professionalism,” Judge Panarese said. “I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners and supporting the Commission staff as they help lawyers and judges build careers rooted in integrity.”
