Chicago, IL (January 10, 2025) – A man died after a crash in southwest suburban Oak Lawn early Tuesday morning, January 7, and officers have since released further details connected to the incident.
Around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oak Lawn Police Department officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Cicero Avenue and Southwest Highway. Police said a car headed southwest on Southwest Highway hit another vehicle headed south on Cicero, pushing the second vehicle into the storefront of a vacant oil change business.
Victims from both vehicles were taken to the hospital. One of those individuals, 27-year-old Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez of Midlothian, was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center. That said, no further details regarding citations or charges have been provided at this time. Though an investigation is ongoing, witnesses were asked to come forward.
