A two-vehicle crash in North Chicago on Monday evening left both cars severely damaged and resulted in five people being hospitalized, prompting a large emergency response at the scene. According to the North Chicago Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Dickey Avenue.
Police officers and firefighters arrived after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a mid-size sedan and a compact car. Initial 911 calls suggested that one person may have died, but authorities later confirmed that the report was incorrect. When first responders reached the scene, they found both vehicles heavily damaged, with debris and even a knocked-down light pole scattered across the roadway.
Because several people were injured, multiple ambulances were dispatched. Emergency medical teams from the North Chicago Fire Department, along with ambulances from Waukegan, Libertyville, and Lake Forest, assisted in transporting victims. Officials confirmed that five individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
