A woman was killed and four other people were injured after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Soldier Field, Chicago police said. The crash occurred around 2:21 a.m. in the 2500 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, a busy stretch along Chicago’s lakefront.
According to police, a male driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a pole and the center median. A female passenger was critically injured and transported to University of Chicago Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
The driver and three additional passengers were also taken to the University of Chicago Hospital. Police said their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it was not immediately clear whether citations or criminal charges would be issued.
