Accident News | Marengo, Illinois

Five adults were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 23 in unincorporated Marengo on Sunday morning, briefly shutting down traffic in both directions and prompting an investigation by local authorities. According to officials, the collision occurred around 10:19 a.m. at the intersection of North Route 23 and River Road, an area that serves as a key connector for drivers traveling through McHenry County.

Emergency responders arriving at the scene found one vehicle stopped in the roadway, while the second vehicle had left the road and come to rest in a ditch. The off-road vehicle was also caught in a utility pole wire, creating additional hazards for rescue crews. All five occupants involved in the crash were adults and were evaluated at the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.

As a result of the crash and emergency response efforts, Route 23 was closed in both directions for approximately one hour. Traffic was gradually restored once the vehicles were removed and the scene was secured. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
