CHICAGO, Ill. (Nov. 10, 2025) – Two Chicago police officers were injured in a traffic crash in the South Loop on Saturday night, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The collision occurred around 9:41 p.m. in the 2200 block of South State Street. Authorities said the officers were traveling southbound on State Street when their patrol vehicle was struck by a black sedan attempting to turn westbound onto Cermak Road.

The driver and passenger of the sedan refused medical treatment at the scene. One officer was transported to a local hospital with a hand injury and is expected to recover. A second officer sustained collar and back injuries and was reported in serious condition, police said.

Chicago police issued a citation to the driver of the black sedan. The incident remains under investigation.
