Jeff Bezos’ Lawyers Craft World’s Toughest Prenup Ahead of $600M Wedding: ‘He Wants a Prenup That Will Survive Any Legal Challenge’

Jeff Bezos is getting ready to marry former news anchor Lauren Sánchez in a fancy three-day wedding in Venice this June. But while the celebration is being planned, Bezos is focusing on something else, making sure his prenuptial agreement is solid. People close to the couple say Bezos wants to protect his $200 billion fortune with a prenup that can’t be challenged in court. Lawyer Alphonse Provinziano says the agreement is as detailed and complex as a big business deal and must clearly list all of Bezos’ financial information.

Since Sánchez doesn’t have nearly as much money, the prenup has to be fair to her. This means Bezos has to fully share details about all his money, investments, and business deals so Sánchez can’t later say he kept anything hidden. Provinziano also said Sánchez must have her own lawyer and enough time to review everything. Putting this kind of prenup together takes a lot of time and work from both sides’ legal teams.

Bezos is being extra careful this time because he didn’t have a prenup during his first marriage to MacKenzie Scott. When they divorced in 2019, she walked away with about $38 billion in Amazon shares. Now Bezos doesn’t want to make that mistake again. His wedding to Sánchez is expected to cost $600 million and attract a lot of attention. People in Venice are already getting ready for the big event, and the city is full of excitement about the wedding.
