Effingham, IL (January 7, 2025) – One person was killed, and traffic was backed up for miles due to a crash on the Edens Expressway in Chicago’s north suburbs on Tuesday, January 7, Illinois State Police troopers said.
At about 7:10 a.m., the incident took place on the northbound side of I-94, just north of Winnetka Road. At least one person was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead, ISP added. However, no further details were released, and it’s unclear how many people were involved or hurt. Though an investigation is ongoing, witnesses were asked to come forward.
