Effingham, IL (December 30, 2024) – One person died, and two people were injured in a car crash in Effingham on Saturday morning, December 28.
According to Kim Rhodes, Effingham County Coroner, Effingham police officers, and the Illinois State Police responded to a crash near the intersection of South Banker Street and Jaycee Avenue around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a head-on collision.
One of the drivers involved, a 41-year-old man, was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced deceased at 7:15 a.m. A couple riding in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Though an investigation is ongoing, witnesses were asked to come forward.
