Plymouth, IL (October 7, 2024) – An Illinois man is dead following a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 at the intersection with Pioneer Drive Saturday night, October 5.

Plymouth Police Officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. Officers arrived, quickly identified the three vehicles involved, and determined that all occupants were injured.

The investigation determined that a 2009 White Chevy truck was stopped at a red light on U.S. 30 eastbound at Pioneer Drive.  A 2018 red Volkswagen SUV was traveling west on U.S. 30 and was turning south onto Pioneer Drive.  The third vehicle, a 2014 White Nissan, was traveling east on U.S. 30 and, reasons still under investigation, struck the Chevy truck in the rear and the Volkswagen SUV in the passenger front.

Plymouth Fire and EMS rendered aid to all three drivers, and one died en route to the hospital. Plymouth Police were assisted by Plymouth Fire and EMS, officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Excise Police, Indiana State Police, LaPaz Fire and EMS, the Marshall County Coroner’s Office, and Reichert Knepp Towing. However, authorities did not immediately provide further information about the crash as an investigation remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased man’s family. Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this challenging time.
