Rock Island County, IL (September 24, 2024) – The Rock Island County coroner has identified the person who was killed in an Illinois City crash, which also left three other people injured, on Saturday, September 21.

Cheryl A. Baldwin, 79, of New Boston, Illinois, was identified as the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson. The preliminary cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries.

Deputies initially said they responded to the site of the accident at 12:15 p.m. and found a two-vehicle crash in the 15300 block of 322nd Street West. A passenger in one of the vehicles, Baldwin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the same vehicle was taken to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island for treatment, deputies said.

Two people in the other vehicle were taken to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Muscatine. The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Muscatine Police Department, the Illinois City Fire Department, and the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office. That said, no further details have been released. While officers requested witnesses to come forward, the incident is under further investigation.
