Port Byron, IL (September 21, 2024) – Port Byron Police Department officers and the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office said a two-car crash that took place on Thursday, September 19, remains under active investigation.
Officials on the scene said the crash involved a box truck and a Pontiac at the intersection of 256th Street North and 94th Avenue North. According to the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, the Pontiac had three occupants in the car at the time of the crash, and the driver was airlifted to Iowa City.
The deputy said another passenger in the Pontiac was also taken to an area hospital, though the box truck driver was assessed and released at the scene. Although no more information is currently available in the interim, the incident is being investigated by the ISP’s accident unit. Troopers also asked any witnesses with additional information to come forward.
