Tressler is delighted to welcome Katie E. Ngo as senior counsel in our Local Government Practice Group. Katie concentrates her practice in all aspects of school law. She works directly with superintendents and administrators to ensure compliance with the Illinois School Code, the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA), the Open Meetings Act (OMA), the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and various other state and federal laws and regulations. Katie counsels clients on a number of matters including employee discipline and investigations, student-related issues, collective bargaining, policy development, special education and bidding of public contracts.
“I am thrilled to join the Local Government Practice Group, and I look forward to working with the entire Tressler team,” said Katie Ngo.
Katie has spent several years working primarily in school law. Prior to joining Tressler, she worked as in-house labor and employment counsel at a large public hospital system. Katie has also worked at an insurance defense law firm representing insurance companies in employment litigation. Katie has experience in state and federal court, arbitrations, mediations and with various administrative agencies.
While in law school, Katie earned CALI awards in Trial Advocacy and Pre-Trial Litigation. She volunteered at the Self-Help Web Center, providing legal assistance to pro se litigants at the Daley Center in Chicago, Illinois. Katie also interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Counsel and Chicago Public Schools.
Katie earned her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her B.A. in Communications from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.
