Chicago, IL (September 7, 2024) – Per authorities, an investigation is underway on Friday afternoon, September 6, after a hit-and-run crash sent a car into the front room of a garden unit at an apartment building on the city’s Northwest Side.

According to Chicago police, the crash unfolded just before 1:00 p.m. in Belmont Cragin, in the 3000 block of North Laramie Avenue. Officers said an unknown driver in an SUV heading westbound along West Wellington Avenue was involved in a crash with a 52-year-old woman in a black Honda driving southbound along Laramie.

The crash caused the Honda driver to lose control of her vehicle, and she ended up crashing with another car before slamming into a building on the 2900 block of North Laramie Avenue. Following the crash, the driver of the SUV fled the scene. The woman involved in the crash suffered a neck injury and was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. No additional information was available as officials investigated, though a search for the driver and possible citations are pending as local law enforcement officials continue to look into the incident.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this challenging time.
