Chicago, IL (September 13, 2024) – All lanes of the Edens Expressway have now reopened near Old Orchard Road in Skokie after a crash.
Illinois State Police troopers said at about 3:10 p.m. on Friday, September 13, troopers responded to the Edens Expressway at Old Orchard for a three-car crash with minor injuries. One of the three vehicles involved was a semi-truck, which police said caused a rear-end chain-reaction crash. The semi then started spilling diesel.
All lanes were closed north of Old Orchard Road but had reopened by 6:35 p.m. A hazmat team responded for diesel and oil cleanup, ISP said. The semi-driver was not injured. The other two drivers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries. Further information regarding the incident was not immediately available, though local officers asked any witnesses to come forward. Local law enforcement officials are currently investigating the incident.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Injury Crashes in Chicago
Chicago’s roadways, like most of those across our country, are no stranger to careless and negligent driving, which significantly contributes to collisions. Additionally, inclement weather frequently contributes to vehicle wrecks in the greater Chicago area; novice drivers in Chicago, unaccustomed to operating a vehicle in slippery and wintry conditions, may not consistently exercise their best judgment while behind the wheel.
A further prevalent factor contributing to incidents in Chicago is speeding. It is a fact that drivers frequently disregard posted speed limits, and by failing to stop in a timely manner at intersections, they expose themselves and others to the potential danger of an accident.
The fact that each automobile collision produces a distinct set of circumstances complicates the process of determining the value of your collision. As a result of a crash, the amount of a personal injury claim is determined by economic damages, non-economic damages, and sometimes punitive damages.
Regardless of the cause of your wreck, you should contact a Chicago personal injury attorney at the Romaker Law Firm for an assessment of your case and assistance in determining whether you are entitled to pursue compensation for your injuries and losses.
