Chicago, IL (September 3, 2024) – Three people were injured, one critically, after a crash involving several cars Monday night in Chicago’s Marquette Park neighborhood.
According to a statement from the Illinois State Police, a car was speeding while crossing train tracks around 9:00 p.m. when the driver lost control and crashed into several vehicles in the 2400 block of West Columbus Avenue, according to police.
One victim, a 40-year-old man, suffered cuts to the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. A passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to the same hospital, where she was listed in critical condition with cuts to the head and neck. Another passenger broke her pelvis and was cut on the leg in the crash. She was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition.
Police said the first driver would be issued citations; no further details were released as an investigation is ongoing, however.
