Peoria, IL (August 2, 2024) – Peoria officers and troopers with the Illinois State Police reported that a portion of westbound Interstate 74 was closed down after a three-vehicle crash with injuries about a mile past I-474 and Route 6 in Northwest Peoria.
Troopers say the crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 74 at milepost 86. Peoria Area Scanner and Dashcam video posted on Facebook showed a badly damaged car and semi-truck that was rolled onto its side.
According to Peoria Police, at least one person was hurt and taken to an area hospital. Troopers added that there was a non-hazardous spill, but no other information has been provided thus far. The westbound lanes were closed for the investigation, police said. No additional information was available as officials investigated, though citations may be pending. Local law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the accident.
