Chicago, IL (August 24, 2024) – A 20-year-old man is dead after a two-car crash in the city of Chicago’s Austin neighborhood early on Saturday morning, August 24.
According to the Chicago Police Department, a male in a silver sedan was driving northbound in the 800 block of South Cicero Avenue around 3:50 a.m. when he was involved in a crash with a flatbed truck that was carrying construction equipment and turning left. Police said a 20-year-old passenger in the silver sedan, identified as Jesus Bautista, suffered severe trauma from the crash and was pronounced dead a short time after being taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
The male driver of the silver sedan sustained minor injuries and is being treated at an area hospital, while the driver of the flatbed truck that was turning at the time of the crash did not sustain any injuries, according to police. Citations will be issued by police as CPD’s Major Accidents Detectives continue the investigation. However, local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
