Bloomington, IL (August 7, 2024) – A driver was killed, and another motorist was injured after their vehicles crashed and caught fire Tuesday afternoon on southbound Interstate 55 in southwest Bloomington.
About three hours later, Illinois State Police say a third vehicle drove through the crash scene, nearly hitting troopers and Illinois Department of Transportation crews in what authorities say was a Scott’s Law violation. Preliminary information indicates that the driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was injured and taken to an area hospital.
