Chicago, IL (July 3, 2024) – State police in Chicago reported several crashes on Wednesday morning, with backups already clogging city streets.
As of 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, at least three crashes were already causing major delays, including on I-55, which was causing gridlock. The expressway was blocked at the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) and Cermak Road. According to ISP, one person was pronounced dead on the scene. It’s unclear if anybody else was injured, though EMTs reported to the site with police. Investigations into the accident are still ongoing, however, and no further details were released.
