Aurora, IL (July 29, 2024) – One person died, and two were injured in a rollover crash on Aurora’s far east side over the weekend, police said.

Aurora police and firefighters responded at 8:40 p.m. to the intersection of East New York Street and North Eola Road to find a crash involving four cars, one of which rolled over. In the preliminary investigation, officials determined a 2017 gray Dodge Challenger was driving westbound on New York Street when the driver lost control attempting to make a lane change, hitting three cars in the southbound Eola Road lanes, police said. The cars hit were a 2017 white Nissan Rogue, a 2002 silver Toyota Camry, and a 2018 red Honda Accord.

The Camry driver, a 44-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead, police said. Two other people were hospitalized for minor injuries. No new information has been disclosed thus far, but the crash remains under investigation by local law enforcement officials.
