Franklin County, IL (June 16, 2024) – State Police reported that one person was cited and at least one individual was hurt following a three-vehicle crash in the Franklin County area on Friday evening, June 16.
According to troopers with the Illinois State Police who responded to the scene of the incident, emergency rescue units and EMTs were called to Interstate 57 near mile marker 71 for a collision involving three vehicles, including two large trucks. Officers say the incident happened around 6:00 p.m.
A pickup truck and two semi-trucks were traveling northbound on I-57 when the incident took place, reportedly after one of the motorists attempted to merge lanes. A 79-year-old man was injured in the collision, though it’s unclear how many people total were involved, while another driver was cited at the scene. However, the collision is still being investigated in the interim, and no additional details were reported.
