Chicago, IL (June 26, 2024) – Two people were hurt in an early Wednesday, June 26, crash on the city’s West Side, Illinois State Police (ISP) said.

According to Lawndale Police, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Eisenhower Expressway near Kostner in the Lawndale area. Two cars were involved in the crash, and local news footage at the scene showed a silver sedan and a dark-colored sedan. A driver and passenger of one of the cars had serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, ISP stated. As a result of the crash, inbound lanes of the Eisenhower were shut down for hours as authorities worked to clean the area. All Ike traffic was diverted off the expressway at Cicero Avenue. No additional information was available as officials investigated, though citations may be pending.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
