Chicago, IL (June 10, 2024) – According to Chicago fire authorities, a CTA bus was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the city’s South Side Monday morning that sent five people to the hospital.
The CTA said the accident happened near 25th Street and Halsted Street. Because of the crash, parts of 35th Street and Halsted Street were closed for more than an hour, and No. 35 buses were also temporarily rerouted. Surveillance footage showed the bus swerving back and forth, jumping a curb, and taking a light pole out. The bus also hit a tree, bike racks, and the side of a building before colliding with several cars. Chicago police said 11 vehicles were involved in the crash, which hospitalized five people. No further details were released, but an investigation is still ongoing.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
