Chicago, IL (May 9, 2024) – Officers with the Chicago Police Department reported that a man was killed in an accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive early on Thursday morning.
According to the police, just before 12:15 a.m., a 20-year-old man was driving north in the 3100 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Lakeview when he swerved to avoid colliding with another car. Before coming to a stop, the man hit a light post and a curb.
Another man, a 25-year-old passenger in the car, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and later declared deceased, according to the police. The victim was identified as Des Plaines resident Jorge Castillo, per the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition. The CPD Major Accidents Unit is still investigating the incident at this time, and no other injuries were apparently recorded.
