Chicago, IL (April 7, 2024) – State police in Chicago report that a driver struck two people on Sunday as they were attempting to replace a tire on the Stevenson Expressway, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
Around 6:45 p.m., there was a reported collision in the outgoing lanes. The driver of a pick-up truck pulled off the road and struck the driver and two passengers who were attempting to repair a tire on the shoulder, according to Illinois State Police. Two individuals, the pick-up truck driver and a passenger, were sent to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while one person died. Investigations into the accident are still ongoing, however, and no further details were released.
