Chicago, IL (April 12, 2024) – The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office released the name of the 54-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash Wednesday on Rockford’s south side.
Frederick Smith of Chicago died after he was hit by a box truck around 11:00 a.m. in the area of 11th Street and Sandy Hollow Avenue. The coroner’s office says Smith was westbound on Sandy Hollow Road approaching 11th Street when he was hit by the truck. An autopsy showed Smith died from his injuries. Authorities have released no further details, but an investigation is ongoing.
