Dolly Parton, Whoopi Goldberg are anti-holograms; expert warns they ‘can never fully ensure’ against use
Artificial Intelligence has recently been at the forefront of conversation, from ChatGPT blunders to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike. Dolly Parton and Whoopi Goldberg are the latest celebrities to make their aversion to certain AI features known.
Both Parton and Goldberg publicly stated their distaste for holograms, with Goldberg saying she has gone as far as to make legal provisions against the technology in her will. “I don’t want to be a hologram. That’s been in my will for 15 years.”
Experts say specific steps can be taken to protect name and likeness while alive. However, this may change after death.
“Unfortunately, in the age of AI, celebrities can never fully ensure that their name and likeness won’t be used as a hologram post-mortem without their permission,” Abe Lichy, partner and chair of the intellectual property practice at McLaughlin & Stern, tells Fox News Digital.
