- First-time DUI offenders – While it is unlikely you will go to jail after a first DUI, you still face fines, a license suspension, community service, and enrollment in an alcohol treatment program.
- Repeat DUI offenders – With additional DUI convictions, you will be facing heavier penalties. These can include mandatory jail time and a longer license suspension or even revocation.
- Aggravated felony DUIs – A DUI can become a more serious felony charge if you have already had two or more DUI arrests, if you were driving with a suspended or revoked license, or if you were involved in an accident that caused great bodily harm or death to another individual. You will face mandatory jail time, fines of at least $2,500, and could lose your license for up to 10 years.
- Drug-related DUIs – Whether under the influence of illegal or prescription drugs, you can still face DUI charges if you cannot safely operate a vehicle, or even if you are stopped and are operating a vehicle with drugs in your system.
