Save the date! The Future Is Now: Legal Services conference will return in a virtual format this spring. The Commission’s signature future law event will be held Tuesday, April 25 – Thursday, April 27, 2021, from 12 – 2 p.m. CDT.
The fourth annual The Future Is Now conference will bring together lawyers, judges, legal academics, entrepreneurs, and other professionals from across the U.S. and internationally. The conference will explore the interplay between the changing legal profession and attorney professionalism in three areas: future law; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and well-being.
Topics will include strategies for implementing new technology in your practice; policies for successfully advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in your organization; approaches for prioritizing well-being in changing workplace structures; and navigating the continued impact of COVID-19 on the profession.
2021 conference speakers will include:
- Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne M. Burke
- Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis
- Illinois Supreme Court Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Deanie Brown
- Brian Cuban, a Dallas-based attorney and bestselling author of “The Addicted Lawyer”
- Chicago-area attorneys and legal tech experts Alan R. Press and Caren E.I. Naidoff of the Shire Law Group
A full speaker list will be announced at a later date.
“The COVID-19 pandemic drastically changed the way lawyers work and live, and the impact has been profound,” said Jayne Reardon, Executive Director of the Commission on Professionalism. “We’re thrilled to bring The Future Is Now back in this virtual format and look forward to providing attendees with the innovative practice strategies, diverse perspectives, and useful learning opportunities that they’ve come to expect from The Future Is Now.”
Attorneys will have the opportunity to register for all three days of the conference or each day individually. 1.75 hours of CLE will be awarded for each day. 1.75 hours of diversity and inclusion CLE will be awarded for attending the day focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and 1.75 hours of mental health and substance abuse CLE will be awarded for attending the day focused on attorney well-being.
