COVID-19 UpdateAs COVID-19’s impact on our daily lives continues indefinitely, our family at SBK Law Group hopes that you and your families are doing well and staying safe during this challenging and unprecedented time.  As we all continue to adapt to the changes the coronavirus has forced upon all of us, we realize that you may want, or need, to resume some personal and business activities,  but that you need to do so from the safety of your home.  We are here to help clients and non-clients alike.

First, we want to inform you that we have adapted our practices so that we can continue to provide high quality legal services to our clients, while protecting their health, our health, and the health of everyone’s families. Some of the changes to our practice include offering consults and legal services over the phone or utilizing videoconferencing and electronic signature programs as much as possible.

Second, as a way to give back during this unprecedented time, SBK Law Group is offering complimentary remote notary services for residents of DuPage, Will, Kane, and Kendall Counties.  If you, your friends, or your family need notary services we are here to assist.  As a courtesy, we intend to provide remote notary services at no charge for the duration of the Stay At Home Mandate and for as long as social distancing remains advisable and the temporary authority to perform remote notarial acts remains in effect.  In order to utilize our remote notary service, the signor must be located within the state of Illinois, must have a valid government issued photo id, must have the ability to teleconference with our notary via Zoom or GoToMeeting, and must have the ability to scan and email the signed document.  For current clients, we can also witness signatures remotely.

Further, with our teleconference and remote document execution capabilities, our office is able to assist you with completely ‘contactless’ estate planning and business representation services.  If you have been thinking about reviewing your estate plan or corporate books, now may be a good time.  We welcome you to contact us for a free consultation.

When it comes to Family Law, Probate & Guardianship matters, we have adjusted our practices there as well.  We are taking full advantage of most local Courts offering to hear motions or settle disputes via phone or video conferences. We have also been successful filing emergency motions on behalf of our clients in both Cook and Will counties. The basis of these motions has been that certain issues cannot wait until the Courts re-open to the general public and therefore the Court should find that COVID-19 is reasonably creating emergency circumstances.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office to assist you with your notary needs, questions about legal services, or any other way we can assist you with during this difficult time.  Most of all stay safe.

Sincerely,

SBK Law Group
