The Twelve Days of Lawyers for Jesus

Podcasts You Need to Hear this Christmas

Mauck & Baker produced a record amount of 113 Lawyers for Jesus shows this year! We’ve appreciated the support of our listeners every step of the way, and had a lot of amazing guests. Although every interview was special, we’ve chosen the “12 days of Lawyers for Jesus” that will be especially inspiring to you this Christmas season.

In the first month of 2019…

We listened to the riveting testimony of Louis Dooley, author of “Prison Saved My Life.” Louis told us his radical story of transformation, from imprisonment to both literal and spiritual freedom and redemption.

In the second month of 2019…

Kevin Grillot, Executive Director of WeDignify, talked to us about the most effective ways to convey the human dignity of unborn life to supporters of abortion. As the leader of an organization that mentors college students, he explained that reaching the younger generations with truth is super important.

In the third month of 2019…

We spoke with Dr. Bruce Baker about confronting death and the questions many people have when facing it. Dr. Baker has come to see his terminal illness as a gift because he has been allowed ample time to secure end-of-life details and cherish loved ones without taking them for granted.

In the fourth month of 2019…

Avi Snyder, author of “Jews Don’t Need Jesus & Other Misconceptions” discussed the age-old debate of Jesus’ significance to the Jewish people, and what is being done here and now to reach those in the Jewish community with Biblical truth.

In the fifth month of 2019…

We discussed forgiveness with Jeanne Bishop, who experienced just how difficult it can be to truly forgive someone after she was challenged to reconcile with her sister’s murderer. The encounter that followed inspired her to become a fierce advocate for criminal justice reform.

In the sixth month of 2019…

One of our clients, Pastor Jamie Sinclair, spoke with us about his church’s swiftly settled RLUIPA case. After being illegally denied a zoning permit for his congregation’s new building, Pastor Jamie called upon Mauck & Baker to file a lawsuit. Although they faced much hostility from the locals, they proclaimed the Gospel throughout the case.

In the seventh month of 2019…

Heather Rice-Minus, Vice President of Government Affairs and Church Mobilization at Prison Fellowship, talked to us about serving prisoners, former inmates, and their families. There are many people affected by incarceration, and the Church is well-suited to make a difference in their lives.

In the eighth month of 2019…

We talked to Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation about some of the common deceptions purported by Planned Parenthood, his own story that defies abortion myths, and how we can help dispel misconceptions about the pro-life movement.

In the ninth month of 2019…

Rev. Alvin Bibbs explained how to foster racial reconciliation and Biblical justice in our own communities, and what legal professionals can do to partner with churches to achieve this. This is especially relevant to Chicago where the population is frequently been divided by race and injustice.

In the tenth month of 2019…

Hesham Shehab shared his story of growing up in Lebanon as a Muslim who hated and hunted Christians, to being transformed by Christ. Hesham is now a Lutheran pastor with Salam Christian Fellowship, a ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel with Muslim and Middle Eastern immigrants.

In the eleventh month of 2019…

Adam Gustine talked about his book, “Becoming a Just Church” in which he urges local congregations to embrace justice and become the Biblical alternative to broken systems of the world. Adam offers many simple ways for anyone to participate in promoting justice.
