Overtime and Unpaid Vacation Settlement–School Bus Company
The federal court in Chicago has granted preliminary approval to our putative class action settlement against Septran, the school bus company. This page is to provide you with important documents about the case and the settlement and to comply with the parties’ agreement to post the settlement paperwork. The lawsuit alleged, among other things, violations of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collections Act (“IWPCA”), relating to forfeiting employees accrued vacation time. The Plaintiffs claimed that regardless of why an employee’s employment ended, the employee should have been paid for all of his or her accrued vacation time. Certain Plaintiffs also alleged they were not paid for their overtime hours. The claims for overtime were brought as a collective action under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Septran denied the material allegations of the lawsuit.
